STEM Innumeris past pupil tells us about her first week studying Engineering at Trinity!

As part of our “Meet the Students” series, this week we wanted to pay attention to students on our STEM mentoring stream. This stream is particularly important, given our awareness of the fact that access to a STEM career is not always equally available. Former STEM Innumeris student Naomi lets us know how she found the Innumeris programme and how she is getting on studying her dream course of Engineering at Trinity! Check out her account below:

  • "Firstly, thank you so so so much to all of you and especially Cathal for mentoring me and helping me always! I genuinely believe without all the help you offered, especially those study trackers, I don't think I'd be going to Trinity for Engineering!

  • I’m currently studying Engineering at Trinity College Dublin and loving it so far! Freshers week was so awesome and I made so many new friends. This semester I’m taking some really interesting modules, so excited for that too. I’ve also joined a handful of societies and sports clubs to make the most of college life!"

Cathal Maguire, current Trinity PhD Scholar and Innumeris STEM Mentor, was delighted with the news:

  • "With 2020/21 being my first year as an Innumeris mentor, I couldn't have asked for a better group of mentees, which of course included Naomi. Her constant enthusiasm and attentiveness definitely made my life as a mentor easier, especially with all the obstacles we faced during these times. Her engagement with Innumeris, coupled with these traits, is clearly reflected in her excellent results and achievements. Congratulations Naomi!"

We are glad to have more students on our STEM mentoring stream this year, many who are of various backgrounds. We hope like Naomi has demonstrated, students can continue to dream big, work hard and hopefully secure a place at their dream course!
